The Month We Would Pick, and the Ones We Would Not

"When should we book?" is the second question every couple asks us (right after "Castello or Vrachos?"). Here's our honest local answer, month by month.

    June to September: peak season

High summer is when the island is at its liveliest — long warm days, warm sea, and every taverna and beach bar open. The evening light from Vrachos is spectacular, and celebrations at Castello enjoy reliably dry weather. The trade-offs: this is when demand for venues, accommodation and ferries peaks, so book early — for peak-season dates we recommend reserving as far ahead as you can.

May and October: the shoulder months

The island is quieter, greener, and gentler on your guests' budgets. The weather is usually mild and pleasant, though a light plan-B for rain is sensible in these months. If you dream of a more intimate island — pine forests at their freshest, easier accommodation, relaxed pace — the shoulder season is a wonderful and underrated choice.

    Winter: the quiet island

Skopelos in winter is beautiful in a different way, but most seasonal businesses are closed and ferry schedules are reduced. For weddings we generally recommend May through October; for a winter celebration, talk to us first and we'll be straightforward about what's realistic.

    Booking timeline we actually recommend

    • 12+ months ahead: ideal for peak-season Saturdays and larger weddings.
    • 6–12 months: comfortable for most dates, including shoulder season.
    • Under 6 months: still possible — especially for intimate weddings and elopements. Ask us; we'll tell you honestly what's free.

Whenever you're thinking of coming, start the conversation early — availability, not weather, is usually the real constraint. Tell us your dates and we'll confirm what's possible.
